The Salvation Army USA Central Territory is hiring a Food Pantry Assistant to support pantry operations in Mount Pleasant, MI. You will stock pantry storage areas, pack client food orders, and maintain cleanliness across storage spaces and equipment.

Responsibilities include unloading and organizing food orders, adhering to food safety guidelines, and assisting recipients with their needs. This role also involves guiding volunteers and performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Basic reading and math skills.

Responsabilités

• Stock pantry storage areas using supplies from storage, donations, and deliveries.
• Unload, sort, and store food orders; keep items organized and properly stored.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels and records of pantry items.
• Follow food safety guidelines; determine shelf life and repack items; record fridge/freezer temperatures.
• Provide food orders based on household size and dietary needs.
• Assist recipients with bringing food items to vehicles as requested.
• Ensure pantry area cleanliness—sweeping, wiping surfaces, trash removal.
• Guide and supervise pantry volunteers as requested.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
