Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a Pantry Assistant to support food pantry operations in Michigan. You will stock storage areas, pack client orders, and help maintain clean storage spaces and equipment. You will assist with acquiring food items and ensure safety standards are followed while serving pantry clients.

You will also help with unloading and organizing deliveries, managing inventory, and guiding volunteers. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, and lifting up to 75 pounds is required.

Qualifications

• Learn and adhere to The Salvation Army Social Services Code of Ethics.
• Understand and adhere to professional boundaries within and outside of the organization.
• Complete Safe From Harm training and keep current as needed.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Stock pantry storage areas from storage, donations, and deliveries.
• Unload, sort, and store food orders; keep items organized and in designated areas.
• Maintain inventory levels and records of pantry items.
• Apply food safety guidelines; check shelf life and temperature logs.
• Provide food orders to clients based on household size and dietary needs.
• Help recipients bring food items to vehicles as requested.
• Keep the pantry clean; sweep, wipe surfaces, remove trash, break down boxes.
• Guide pantry volunteers as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
