Job summary

The Salvation Army Food Pantry Assistant supports the functioning of the pantry by stocking pantry storage areas, packing food orders for clients, maintaining cleanliness of all storage areas and equipment, and assisting with the acquisition of food items. The role involves unloading, sorting, and storing food orders, maintaining inventory, and following food safety guidelines.

• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to follow food safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Stock pantry storage areas and ensure full stocking using supplies from storage areas and donations.
• Unload, sort, and store food orders; keep items organized.
• Maintain proper inventory levels and records of pantry items.
• Follow food safety guidelines and monitor shelf life; record fridge/freezer temps.
• Provide food pantry recipients with orders based on household size and dietary needs.
• Assist recipients with bringing items to vehicles as requested.
• Maintain cleanliness of pantry area; sweep, wipe surfaces, empty trash.
