Job summary

The Salvation Army North & Central Illinois Division is seeking a Food Pantry Assistant to support daily pantry operations. The role involves stocking storage areas, packing food orders, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting with food item procurement to help neighbors in need.

Responsibilities include unloading and organizing deliveries, managing inventory, adhering to food safety guidelines, assisting clients with appropriate food selections, and supporting volunteers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Basic reading and math skills required.
• Learn and adhere to The Salvation Army Social Services Code of Ethics.

Responsibilities

• Stock pantry storage areas from storage, donations, etc.
• Unload, sort, and store food orders; keep items organized.
• Maintain inventory levels and records for pantry items.
• Follow food safety guidelines and monitor shelf life & temperatures.
• Assist pantry recipients with food orders based on household size.
• Assist recipients with bringing items to vehicles.
• Maintain cleanliness of pantry area and equipment.
• Provide guidance to pantry volunteers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
