Job summary

Catholic Charities Boston is seeking a Food Pantry Assistant to support daily pantry operations and logistics across multiple locations in the Greater Boston area.

The role involves inventory management, client interactions, data entry, and occasional driving of a 26' truck. Candidates should be able to lift 65 pounds, work varied hours, and commit to helping those in need with compassion.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid MA driver’s license with five+ years driving experience.
• Must be comfortable driving a 26' truck or larger; CDL not required.
• Ability to lift up to 65 pounds; physical standing for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Oversee food inventory, ordering, donations, and transport prep.
• Transport food using van or truck; ensure proper handling.
• Maintain health and safety standards in pantry operations.
• Register clients and input data into internal databases.
• Provide outreach information and respond calmly to clients.
• Support pantry coordinator; assist other pantries as needed.
• Engage with clients, volunteers, and staff professionally.
• Travel locally for pantry operations as required.
• Attend meetings and trainings; flexible schedule as needed.
• Operate and maintain pantry equipment; assist with loading.
