Job summary

Catholic Charities Food Pantry Network in Brockton, MA is seeking a dedicated Food Pantry Assistant to support daily pantry operations and client services. In this full-time role, you will manage inventory, assist the Pantry Coordinator, drive a 26' truck when needed, and engage volunteers and clients with sensitivity and professionalism while upholding safety standards.

The position requires a high school diploma, MA driver’s license, and the ability to lift 65 pounds; weekend or evening shifts

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent vocational/technical training, or HiSet Certificate.
• Valid Massachusetts driver’s license with at least five years of driving experience.
• Previous experience driving a 26' truck or larger; CDL not required.
• Ability to remain on feet for extended periods during distribution and restocking.
• ServSafe certification preferred, willing to be trained in food safety.
• Proficiency in additional languages preferred.
• Ability to lift 65 pounds and operate pallet jack, forklift, loading lift.
• Available for occasional weekend or evening hours.
• Basic computer and email skills.

Responsibilities

• Manages on-hand, incoming, and outgoing food inventory, ordering, donations, and transport preparation.
• Transporting food via van or truck, as necessary.
• Demonstrates professional integrity in stressful situations and enforces pantry policies.
• Works independently and as part of a team; travels to other sites as needed.
• Communicates with clients and staff, maintains confidentiality.
• Meets with clients to check in or register them for the Food Pantry services.
• Inputs client data into required databases in a timely manner.
• Ensures health and safety standards and maintains a tidy environment.
• Assists Pantry Coordinator and supports volunteers.
• Performs pantry duties and some office tasks; occasional lifting.
• Attends required meetings and trainings; local travel as necessary.
