Job summary

State of South Carolina’s Department of Public Health seeks a laboratorian to lead and perform ISO 17025–aligned testing under the Food Microbiology Laboratory. You’ll oversee surveillance testing for human food, animal feed, and environmental samples, including high-complexity molecular assays and standard culture methods.

You will report results to the FDA, participate in LFFM grant activities, and may travel or respond to emergencies as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent training and journey-level experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Transcript submission may be requested during application.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve ISO manual processes and monitor compliance to ISO 17025.
• Perform surveillance testing of human food, animal feed, and environmental samples.
• Conduct high complexity molecular testing and cultural methods.
• Report results to FDA to fulfill LFFM grant requirements.
• Travel as required and respond to emergencies outside normal hours.
