Job summary

GPAL is seeking a Food Microbiology Laboratory Technologist III to perform advanced qualitative and molecular testing for food and environmental samples. You will interpret results, ensure accuracy in the LIMS, and mentor junior staff, reporting to the Microbiology Laboratory Supervisor.

You will follow ISO safety and quality procedures, troubleshoot assays and instrumentation, and participate in continuous improvement while maintaining a clean, compliant lab environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a lab in industry or academia (food environment).
• Proficient in qualitative microbiology and molecular testing workflows.
• Experience with PCR, result interpretation, documentation, and quality practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform qualitative microbiological testing for pathogens, including PCR-based assays.
• Evaluate PCR data and identify inhibition or assay irregularities; recommend further testing.
• Report and validate results in LIMS and communicate presumptive positives per SOP.
