Job summary

Dennis Group is seeking a junior or senior Chemical Engineering student to support process engineering design and field activities for food and beverage facilities. Role involves creating P&IDs, mass/energy balances, and coordinating with engineers, designers, and vendors to develop cost estimates.

Excellent exposure to flow diagrams, sanitary design, and project coordination in a real-world plant environment. Travel 30–50% expected, with opportunities for hands-on startup support.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Familiarity with process flow diagrams and P&IDs preferred.
• Interest in food safety and sanitary design principles.
• Experience with MS Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD.
• Past process experience in food & beverage or sanitary environments is a plus.
• GPA 3.0 or above.
• Willingness to travel 30-50% of the year.

Responsibilities

• Develop process design basis and select unit operations.
• Develop operation specifications.
• Coordinate with other project disciplines (engineers, designers, architects).
• Prepare process flow and piping & instrumentation diagrams.
• Create process flow diagrams.
• Prepare mass and energy balances.
• Size and specify process and process utility equipment.
• Equipment procurement and bid evaluation.
• Assist project management with scope, budget, and schedule for all process related work.
• Coordinate schedules for process equipment installation.
• Work with clients, vendors, and suppliers on cost estimates and proposals.
• Provide client assumptions on supply recommendations.
• Develop process & instrumentation drawings (P&IDs).
• Oversee process and utility equipment installations.
• Provide onsite construction start-up and commissioning support.
• Research process engineering best practices.
• Support talent growth within our organization.
