Job summary

Sofidel is seeking a Machine Operator to join our team in Illinois. The role focuses on operating folding equipment, adhering to GMP/HACCP standards, and maintaining product quality on a 12-hour rotating shift.

Local candidates preferred for a long-term position with opportunities to train others and lead by example. Responsibilities include monitoring equipment, performing quality checks, and collaborating with QA, maintenance, and supervision to ensure production targets and safety protocols

Qualifications

• Must have leadership and ability to train and monitor other employees.
• Strong analytical skills to assess manufacturing operations and capacity.
• Basic computer skills for operating panels and data entry.
• Understanding of GMP/HACCP and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Support GMP and HACCP to maintain a safe, sanitary workplace.
• Apply customer specifications to machine operation to meet requirements.
• Program and monitor the operating panel; perform conversions for product standards.
• Set up, operate, and adjust folding equipment and downstream lines.
• Perform hourly quality checks and submit daily QA reports.

Position Overview

Job Responsibilities

• Support Sofidel America’s Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP to promote a safe, sanitary, and hygienically sound workplace.
• Understand and apply customer specifications to the operation of the machine to ensure finished goods comply with customer requirements.
• Program and monitor the computerized operating panel if applicable. Calculate mathematical conversions to ensure proper standards are met for each product.
• Initiate set up, operations, and adjustment of folding equipment and any downstream equipment to achieve established production quota.
• Perform hourly quality checks to ensure the accuracy of the production runs and the submittal of daily quality reports to the QA department.
• Monitor and perform product changeovers in conjunction with the Rapid Changeover Technicians (RCO Techs).
• Ensure regular and open communications with quality, maintenance, and supervision.
• Train and monitor the activity of the other employees on the machine.
• Demonstrate leadership skills on a regular, consistent basis.
• Work the 12-hour rotating shift requirement.
• Keep the work area clean and organized while following the lean initiatives.
  

Other Responsibilities May Include:

• Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements. Notify supervision of unusual equipment or operating problems and the need for additional materials and supplies.
• Maintain a safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules keeping the work area in a clean and orderly condition.
• Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain specified levels of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, policies, and regulatory guidelines.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED); and/or previous relevant experience is preferred.
• Must be able to interpret documents regarding safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, along with quality and procedure manuals.
• Must be able to analyze manufacturing operations and perform capacity analysis to identify obstructions.
• Must possess basic computer skills.
• Must demonstrate the ability to promote a safe working environment.
