Position Overview

Join as a Machine Operator, a key role in our rapidly growing production team. You will set the standard for performance, quality, and consistency on a 12‑hour rotating shift while working alongside production engineers and maintenance staff.

Position Scope

Set up, operate, and maintain converting machines that rewind, saw, band, wrap, box, or stack paper goods. Monitor quality checks, provide training to Operator Assistants, and collaborate with quality, maintenance, and supervisory staff.

Essential Job Functions
  • Apply customer specifications to machine operation to ensure finished goods meet requirements.
  • Program and monitor the computerized operating panel and perform mathematical conversions for quality standards.
  • Set up, operate, and adjust folding equipment and downstream machinery to meet production quotas.
  • Conduct hourly quality checks and submit daily reports to the QA department.
  • Coordinate product changeovers with team members to maintain consistent production.
  • Maintain open communication with quality, maintenance, and supervisors.
  • Train and oversee other machine operators, packaging operators, assistants, and material handlers.
  • Demonstrate consistent leadership and maintain a clean, organized work area following lean initiatives.
  • Support Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP, and uphold the employee personal practice policy.
Other Duties
  • Assist with operations required to meet schedules and quality standards, and report equipment or material issues to supervision.
  • Participate in meetings and work groups to integrate activities, resolve problems, and maintain awareness of new developments and regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED preferred; 6–12 months manufacturing inventory or purchasing experience, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Team‑oriented cross‑functional teamwork and strong time‑management skills.
  • Proficiency in reading safety rules, operating instructions, and quality manuals; ability to write routine reports.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) in all units of measure.
  • Ability to certify in lift and crane operation.
  • Competence with tools, tape measures, calculators, and common metrology instruments.
  • Identify nonconformance and report to supervisor.
  • Communicate effectively with managers, technicians, and production personnel.
  • Use computer and production equipment, including custom software applications.
Physical Demands

Requires lifting of 10–100 lbs, frequent walking, occasional sprinting, and routine bending, squatting, or kneeling. Work environment includes paper dust, noise, and need for hearing protection.

Work Environment

Plant temperatures vary seasonally; PPE such as safety shoes, eye and ear protection, high‑visibility vests, and hairnets or hats are required. Employees may be exposed to paper dust and noise levels necessitating hearing protection.
