Job summary

Premier Packaging Corporation is hiring a Fold and Glue Setup Operator for the 2nd shift in Rochester, NY. The role focuses on setting up, operating, and tuning folder/gluer equipment to deliver high-quality carton packaging safely and efficiently.

You will work with Fold & Glue leadership and maintenance teams to standardize setup practices, troubleshoot issues, and maintain production targets while adhering to ISO and safety standards.

Position Summary

At Premier Packaging, the Folder Gluer Setup Operator is a skilled technical position responsible for setting up, operating, adjusting, and troubleshooting folder/gluer equipment to produce high-quality finished packaging safely and efficiently. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, technical problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. The Setup Operator completes accurate and efficient machine setups, monitors performance throughout production, resolves equipment and process issues, and ensures quality and production standards are consistently achieved. The Folder Gluer Setup Operator works closely with other Setup Operators, Fold & Glue leadership, Feeder/Packers, Quality, and Maintenance to standardize setup practices, share technical knowledge, and continuously improve Fold & Glue performance.

Responsibilities

  • Machine set up, operate, and adjust folder/gluer equipment according to job specifications and established setup standards.
  • Complete machine changeovers accurately and efficiently.

  • Monitor machine performance and production progress to achieve established throughput and efficiency targets.
  • Identify and address causes of downtime, inefficient setups, production interruptions, and waste.
  • Communicate tooling, material, equipment, or process concerns that may impact production.
  • Support achievement of daily production schedules and department performance goals.

Quality & Compliance

  • Perform required quality checks during setup and throughout production to ensure finished product meets customer specifications and internal standards.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on setup efficiency, machine performance, quality, and waste reduction.

Safety & Work Environment

  • Operate equipment and handle materials and chemicals in accordance with all safety requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and respect within the Fold & Glue department.

Job Requirements

  • Experience setting up and operating folder/gluer equipment in a folding carton, printing, packaging, converting, or similar manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
  • BOBST folder/gluer setup and operating experience highly preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand, adjust, and troubleshoot production equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand job tickets, specifications, setup documentation, and work instructions.
  • Understanding of production efficiency, quality control, and safe manufacturing practices.
  • Ability to perform basic math and production-related calculations.
  • Ability to be on your feet for the duration of an 8+ hour shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and standing.
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime when required to meet production needs.
