Job summary

Smurfit Westrock plc in Lansing, MI is seeking a Folder/Gluer Operator to set up and run the folder/gluer for pharmaceutical cartons, sleeves, and folders. You will prepare make-ready, operate the system, and ensure quality throughout the job.

The role requires reading and following safety rules and maintenance instructions, basic arithmetic, and reliable attendance. Overtime may be required and the position offers training and growth within a global packaging company.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Must be capable of maintaining good attendance.

Responsibilities

• Locates and loads proper stock in preparation for operation.
• Prepares make-ready feeder, prefold, glue system, final fold, delivery, stacker, pack station, and inspection system.
• Operates folder/gluer in accordance with customer specifications and current standard operating procedures.
• Ensures total quality of the job while in operation.
• Maintains the machine and area in accordance with standard operating procedures.
• Demonstrates competency in all basic folds: straight-line, lock-bottom, inner partition, and 5th panels.
• Assists press operators as needed at the delivery end of the press.
• Assists small machine operators in the rewind area.
• Operates folders in the insert area.
• Performs other job duties as assigned.
• Works in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with company policies and procedures.
