Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. (PCC) in Portland, OR seeks an attentive Penetrant Inspector to identify defects on castings using fluorescent penetrant methods. You will evaluate indications, route for accept or salvage, and support safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities include inspecting under UV light, documenting findings, and occasionally performing minor repairs or grinding. Training Line Operators is also possible as part of the role’s duties.

Qualifications

• Advanced inspection skills demonstrated by Penetrant Line Operator and Level 1 certification.
• High School Graduation or GED required for NDT certification.
• Ability to read and follow specifications in tech cards and QC manuals.
• 20/30 corrected vision and color vision acceptable with tests.
• Able to lift 20–40 lbs, occasionally up to 80 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Inspect castings under UV light for surface discontinuities.
• Evaluate results and determine accept, salvage or scrap.
• Route damaged castings and complete salvage cards.
• May perform minor grinding repairs on castings.
• May train Line Operators and ensure safety compliance.
• Complete logs, records and periodic reports.
