Job summary

Rocket Lab Corp. in Long Beach, CA is seeking Manufacturing Engineer II or Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Fluid Systems to develop and improve propulsion component manufacturing processes.

You will work with additive manufacturing, machining, welding, assembly, tooling, test and quality techniques. Responsibilities include welding/fabrication of tubing, NDE/NDT inspections, collaboration with engineering, and leading corrective actions and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience developing and introducing fabrication methods such as OTW, TIG, proof testing and cleaning (Manufacturing Engineer II).
• 5+ years of experience developing and introducing fabrication methods such as OTW, TIG, proof testing and cleaning (Senior Manufacturing Engineer I).

Responsibilities

• Develop, perform, and qualify precision welding and fabrication of tubing components according to aerospace specifications.
• Utilize TIG, MIG, OTW and other welding methods to achieve required structural integrity.
• Conduct thorough inspections of welded components using NDE/NDT methods to identify defects.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to interpret and implement design specifications.
• Lead problem containment and root cause/corrective action investigations when required.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean/Six Sigma tools.
