Job summary

Rocket Lab is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II - Fluid Systems based at the Long Beach, CA headquarters. You will develop, implement, and improve propulsion component fabrication and assembly processes with strong knowledge of OTW, TIG, welding, tooling, testing, and quality practices.

You will collaborate with engineering, production, quality, and supply chain teams to design, qualify processes, lead Lean/Six Sigma improvements, and drive capability upgrades while maintaining aerospace

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing, aerospace engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years creating fabrication methods like OTW, TIG, proof testing and cleaning.
• Experience setting up and/or operating a tube shop or build area.

Responsibilities

• Develop, perform, and qualify precision welding and fabrication of tubing components according to aerospace specifications.
• Utilize TIG, MIG, OTW and other welding methods to achieve the required structural integrity.
• Conduct thorough inspections of welded components using NDE/NDT methods to identify defects.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to interpret and implement design specifications.
• Lead problem containment and root cause/corrective action investigations when required.
• Analyze and resolve manufacturing discrepancies and non-conformances.
• Drive quality improvements with the quality team and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Coordinate with production, quality, supply chain and design engineering for complex problem solving.
• Identify and plan capital equipment upgrades with business case preparation.
• Lead Lean/Six Sigma continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develop and maintain new processes where none exist; role available as Manufacturing Engineer II or Senior Manufacturing Engineer.
