Job summary

Quino Energy in San Leandro, California, seeks a Battery Engineer to join our in-lab team developing water-based organic flow batteries for government and commercial customers. You will assemble, test, and analyze prototypes, run experiments, and optimize components such as stacks, membranes, and electrodes.

The role requires 3–5 years of hands-on electrochemical experience, familiarity with battery testers, and the ability to publish clear progress reports.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in chemistry, engineering, or a field related to energy storage or electrochemical systems.
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience with electrochemical systems such as flow batteries, fuel cells, Li-ion batteries, etc.
• Experience with battery testers such as BioLogic, Arbin, MACCOR, or Neware.
• Experience with CFD software such as COMSOL is a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Fluency in technical and business English; Mandarin Chinese is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, commission, operate, and disassemble flow battery systems at lab or pilot scale.
• Design experiments to study factors affecting flow-battery performance and propose improvements.
• Analyze performance using electrochemical techniques (CV, EIS, etc.).
• Simulate flow-battery systems using CFD tools like COMSOL.
• Train and guide technicians/interns to maintain high standards.
