Job summary

Stealth-mode Battery Startup in San Jose, CA is seeking an Engineering Technician, Operations to support lab- and pilot-scale processing of advanced batteries and cells. You will handle material prep, lamination, and prototyping operations using both hand and semi-automated equipment.

This hands-on role offers growth into shift leadership as the lab scales to roll-to-roll production. You will perform unit operations, maintain safety, document data, and collaborate with engineers and scientists

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate’s degree in a technical field preferred.
• Hands-on experience with materials processing, conversion, or lamination equipment.
• Experience in battery cell/pack prototyping is a plus.
• Ability to work in a dry-room environment and handle solvents/electrolytes safely.
• Basic data entry and documentation skills; familiarity with data logging tools is a plus.
• Mechanical aptitude with ability to support equipment setup and maintenance.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Effective communication and ability to work collaboratively across teams.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain laboratory materials conversion equipment (cutters/slitters, coaters, laminators).
• Prepare materials for prototyping, including laminating and adhesion processes.
• Support dry-room operations, including handling of solvents and electrolyte filling.
• Perform quality checks and record process data in logs and software systems.
• Assist with equipment setup, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration.
• Safely handle chemicals, follow standard operating procedures, and maintain compliance with safety and environmental protocols.
• Maintain prototyping environment in conformance with 5S and other manufacturing best practices.
• Collaborate with engineers and scientists to provide feedback on process performance and sample quality.
• Contribute to continuous improvement in conversion workflows and laboratory operations.
