Job Summary

The Flooring Service Technician is a full-time hourly, non-exempt position reporting to the Operations Manager or Service Manager. The role involves repairing or assessing flooring jobs efficiently and cost-effectively to maximize profitability while following company policies and procedures. The typical schedule is an 8-hour daytime shift, Monday to Friday. Service Technicians are expected to provide their own hand tools; specialty tools are supplied by the company (meters, test equipment).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Travel to commercial and retail locations to complete repairs for damaged or broken items, including warranty repairs.
  • Review repair orders daily and plan repair schedules efficiently based on routes and customer needs.
  • Notify customers of repair schedules and follow-up on any changes.
  • Provide excellent customer service during repairs.
  • Coordinate with the manager for technical support or parts requests.
  • Complete accurate reports after repairs, including time and work details.
  • Lift or move items, including appliances, as needed.
  • Assist with warehouse inventory to ensure parts availability.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
  • 2-3 years’ experience in repairs or installation; 5 years preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand instructions and memos.
  • Proficiency in basic math and unit conversions.
  • Customer interaction skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and communication skills.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Work involves travel to various locations, lifting 75-100 pounds, and working in confined spaces and different weather conditions.
  • Use of standard office and warehouse equipment.
  • Work in a warehouse environment, sometimes under tight deadlines.
