Job summary

Bucknell University is seeking a Carpenter I or II – Flooring Installer. The role focuses on flooring installation and general carpentry to maintain university facilities. Work is on-campus with a standard schedule and occasional overtime for events.

The position may involve collaboration with other trades, safety compliance, and project support to ensure timely, quality outcomes on campus projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of flooring installation experience OR two-year technical training in flooring installation.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive university vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Flooring Installation: installs carpet, VCT, luxury vinyl, ceramic tile, and more; prepares subfloors and secures flooring.
• Building maintenance and repairs: rough and finish carpentry for university buildings; responds to work orders.
• Cabinetry & millwork: constructs and repairs cabinetry, shelving, and millwork; uses hand and power tools.
• Renovation & new construction: participates in framing, drywall, insulation, doors/windows; reads blueprints; estimates materials.
• Safety & compliance: follows safety protocols and maintains organized work areas.
• Project/event support: coordinates with other trades and departments; provides project updates.
