Job summary

Colgate University is seeking two full-time Carpenters for its Facilities - Trades team at the Hamilton, NY campus. You will perform wood, masonry, and finish carpentry, install doors/windows, patch drywall, and coordinate with campus staff on renovation projects.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required or an appropriate combination of education and experience.
• Completion of Trade School is preferred.
• 5 consecutive years as journeyperson carpenter or equivalent experience required as one option.
• Certification from a 4- or 5-year carpentry apprenticeship program plus 2 years journeyperson field experience also acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Constructs, erects, installs and repairs wood and masonry structures from blueprints or instructions.
• Patch sheet rock, perform plaster repairs, and do trim work.
• Install and repair various door and window systems.
• Install and finish tile and other flooring as needed.
• Estimate labor hours, materials and coordinate with support staff.
