Job summary

Velociti Services Co seeks a Floor Technician to maintain hard surfaces and carpets across offices, lobbies, and public areas in Memphis, TN. You will strip, wax, buff, shampoo, and extract floors, ensuring safety and quality.

This role supports a multi-area facility and reports to the Facilities team.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent education.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in floor care.
  • Knowledge of stripping, waxing, and burnishing floors.
  • Experience operating buffers, extractors, wet vacs, and scrubbers.
  • Janitorial or facility experience preferred.
  • Team player with strong customer service.

Overview

At Velociti Floor Technicians are responsible for the overall floor maintenance of hard surfaces and carpet (stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, extraction & bonneting) of areas that include offices, corridors, lobbies, entrances, stairwells, and other public places such as break rooms.

Responsibilities

  • Take direction and respond to supervision
  • Communicate professionally with the lead, supervisor, co-workers, managers, and customers.
  • Fill in during staff shortage
  • Support shift lead in completing punch-list items
  • Use proper personal protective equipment
  • Present a professional appearance and conduct
  • Understand customer service and satisfaction
  • Understand reporting systems and the environment

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent education.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in floor care.
  • Knowledge of how to strip, wax, and burnish floors with minimal to no assistance.
  • Knowledge and experience operating various pieces of equipment such as high-speed buffers, extractors, wet vacs, pressure washers, and auto scrubbers.
  • Janitorial or laborer experience in a facility setting is preferred.
  • Must be a team player and committed to working in a quality environment.
  • Demonstrates exceptional customer service skills.
Key Accountabilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance checks on all equipment before use
  • Before beginning work, secure the work area and post safety notices for other space users.
  • Floors care, including routine mopping (dry and damp), buffing, and burnishing on hard surface floors and stairwells.
  • Vacuuming, shampooing, bonneting, and extracting carpets, stairwells, and upholstery
  • Wall cleaning
  • Dusting (high and low)
  • Routine restroom cleaning
  • Routine office and break room cleaning
  • Maintenance of floor care equipment
Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • To perform the necessary functions and tasks of the job, you are required to: Stand 33%, Walk >66%, Sit <10%
  • Use of hands to finger, handle, rub, grip, and feel <66%
