Facilities Services is a unit in the Campus Operations Division, which is a part of a broad division of Administration and Finance that includes all aspects of facilities management at ECU. ECU is the third largest university in the University of North Carolina system with approximately 28,000 full‑time students and a staff of approximately 6,000. The university is comprised of 6.2 million square feet of facilities located on 1,319 acres with $1.49 billion in physical assets.* This includes the Main, Health Sciences, West Research Campuses, and satellite locations associated with university programs. Facilities Services has an annual budget in excess of $30 million and employs over 400 full‑time employees. Major functions include facilities maintenance and housekeeping services. Facilities Services' primary purpose is to plan and perform corrective and preventive maintenance functions on all building structures and equipment and utility infrastructure. Corrective maintenance returns equipment to optimal design performance after failure or upon degradation from age, adverse operating conditions, etc. Preventive maintenance minimizes equipment failures and reduces corrective maintenance.

The ideal candidate would be able to perform floor cleaning and restoration. He or she should be able to strip and refinish floors, as well as clean all different types of hard floor surfaces. This candidate should also be able to bonnet and extract carpets and be able to use all floor cleaning machines. This person must work with other team members, as well as all the different levels of supervisors, to ensure the duties and responsibilities are met.
Normal work hours are Monday‑Friday 2:30 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. Position may require overtime and weekend hours.
Phone calls to the department are not necessary in order to be considered for this position.
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some positions may require special licenses or certification.
