Job summary

The Oshman Family Jewish Community Center (OFJCC) in Palo Alto is seeking part-time janitorial staff. You will perform a variety of cleaning duties to maintain a safe, welcoming campus for visitors and staff.

This role offers $21/hour with a Saturday–Wednesday schedule and benefits including medical, dental and vision insurance, paid holidays and PTO, a 403(b) retirement plan, and a free membership at our fitness center.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Able to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
• Willingness to complete orientation and testing.

Responsibilities

• Keep campus clean and sparkling across areas.
• Dust, mop floors, and move equipment as needed.
• Perform cleaning and maintenance tasks on carpets, tiles and surfaces.
• Handle waste and recycling according to procedures.
• Follow safety practices with sensitive materials.

The Job:

Join our dynamic team! We are seeking part-time team members. In this position, you will be responsible for a variety of key janitorial duties.

The Core Duties:

• Keeping our campus sparkling!
• Dusting and mopping floors
• Moving equipment and furniture for cleaning purposes
• Provide cleaning and preventative maintenance. This includes pressure washing multiple surfaces, projects for carpets, tiles, concrete and miscellaneous floor and hardscapes throughout campus
• Follow established practices regarding handling and disposal of classified materials and blood borne pathogens
• Respond to routine calls for any facility needs
• Washing walls, windows, doors, furniture, baseboards and other items needed to maintain a clean safe environment for our visitors and staff
• Seeking out areas that require cleaning and take initiative to complete the task
• Collecting and disposing of trash/recycling

The Essentials:

• High school diploma or GED equivalency preferred
• Successfully complete department orientation and any pre/post-employment testing
• Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral)
• Ability to use a computer and communicate via email
• Ability to multi-task and establish priorities
• Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment
• Exhibit initiative, responsibility, flexibility and leadership
• Ability to use working knowledge of working environment to meet established goals and objectives
