Job description

MIKA Coral Gables is a sophisticated Coastal Mediterranean restaurant by Michelin-starred Chef Michael White, inspired by the flavors and lifestyle of the Italian and French Riviera.

Our philosophy, “Tastes of the Riviera. Hospitality of Home,” reflects our commitment to exceptional cuisine, genuine hospitality, and an elevated yet approachable dining experience.

We are seeking an experienced, hands‑on Floor Manager with a strong background in private events and upscale dining to join our leadership team.

Position Overview

The Floor Manager will oversee daily front‑of‑house operations while playing an active role in the planning, coordination, and execution of private dining experiences, special events, and restaurant buyouts.

The ideal candidate is a hospitality-driven leader who thrives in a fast‑paced, high‑volume, upscale restaurant environment. This individual must demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to deliver seamless service for both regular dining guests and private events.

This is a hands‑on leadership position requiring a strong floor presence, excellent guest relations, and the flexibility to support restaurant operations and events based on business needs.

Key Responsibilities

Restaurant Operations & Floor Management

  • Oversee daily lunch and dinner service, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and exceptional hospitality.

  • Maintain a visible and proactive presence on the dining room floor.

  • Lead pre‑shift meetings, communicate daily priorities, and ensure the team is prepared for service.

  • Monitor service standards, table maintenance, pacing, and coordination between FOH and BOH.

  • Manage guest concerns and service recovery with professionalism, discretion, and urgency.

  • Support reservations, seating arrangements, VIP experiences, and special guest requests.

  • Ensure compliance with restaurant SOPs, health and safety standards, and operational procedures.

  • Assist with opening and closing procedures, daily reports, and operational controls.

Private Events & Special Functions

  • Coordinate and execute private dining events, corporate gatherings, celebrations, and restaurant buyouts.

  • Work closely with the Events Sales team to ensure a seamless transition from booking to execution.

  • Review event BEOs, timelines, floor plans, menus, beverage packages, and special requests.

  • Conduct pre‑event briefings and coordinate staffing, setup, service flow, and breakdown.

  • Serve as the primary on‑site operational contact for event hosts and organizers.

  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef, Beverage Director, and management team to ensure successful execution.

  • Anticipate challenges, resolve last‑minute changes, and maintain high service standards throughout events.

  • Ensure accurate event billing, proper POS entries, and timely communication of any additional charges.

  • Participate in post‑event evaluations to identify opportunities for improvement.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, motivate, and coach FOH employees through hands‑on management.

  • Reinforce MIKA's steps of service, hospitality philosophy, and professional standards.

  • Assist with employee training, performance evaluations, and ongoing development.

  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and positive communication across departments.

  • Support staffing decisions and scheduling adjustments based on reservations, event volume, and operational needs.

Guest Experience & Hospitality

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with regular guests, VIPs, and event clients.

  • Personalize guest experiences and anticipate individual needs.

  • Ensure celebrations, special occasions, and private events receive exceptional attention to detail.

  • Represent MIKA's hospitality philosophy through genuine, warm, and professional interactions.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 3–5 years of management experience in upscale, fine dining, luxury hospitality, or high‑volume restaurant operations.

  • Proven experience coordinating and executing private events, corporate functions, and special celebrations.

  • Strong knowledge of fine dining service standards, food, wine, and beverage operations.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.

  • Ability to multitask and remain composed under pressure.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Experience with restaurant POS, reservation systems, and event management platforms.

  • Familiarity with Toast, SevenRooms, OpenTable, and TripleSeat is preferred.

  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Fluent English required; Spanish or additional languages are a plus.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Leads by example and is actively involved in service rather than managing from behind a desk.

  • Understands the balance between operational efficiency and genuine luxury hospitality.

  • Has the confidence to manage a busy dining room while simultaneously overseeing private events.

  • Is proactive, detail‑oriented, organized, and solutions‑driven.

  • Enjoys developing teams and creating memorable guest experiences.

  • Takes ownership of responsibilities and works collaboratively with other departments.

  • Brings positive energy, professionalism, and a passion for hospitality.

What We Offer
  • Opportunity to be part of a distinguished restaurant concept led by Chef Michael White.

  • A dynamic environment combining upscale dining, private events, and personalized hospitality.

  • Professional growth and leadership development opportunities.

  • Competitive compensation based on experience.

  • Benefits and employee dining privileges in accordance with company policies.

At MIKA, we believe luxury should feel genuine, warm, and effortless. We strive to create memorable experiences through attention to detail, teamwork, and personalized service.
