Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist servers and Captains throughout all stages of service.
• Prepare the dining room and stations before service.
• Maintain clean, organized, and stocked service stations.
• Ensure tables are set according to MIKA standards.
• Provide water service and assist with beverage service as directed.
• Deliver bread, condiments, silverware, and service items promptly.
• Assist with food running and learn proper food presentation.
• Clear and reset tables efficiently without rushing guests.
• Replace silverware and glassware between courses.
• Maintain table cleanliness throughout the guest experience.
• Communicate guest requests, allergies, or service concerns to the server.
• Assist with polishing and maintaining glassware and service equipment.
• Support opening and closing duties.
• Maintain cleanliness of dining room, stations, and back-of-house areas.
• Work closely with Servers, Captains, Runners, Bartenders, Sommeliers, Hosts, Managers.
• Assist other sections when needed; teamwork comes first.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.

The Server Assistant plays an essential role in creating a seamless guest experience by supporting servers, maintaining tables and stations, assisting with food and beverage service, and anticipating the needs of both guests and the service team.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist servers and Captains throughout all stages of service.

• Prepare the dining room and assigned stations before service.

• Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked service stations.

• Ensure tables are properly set according to MIKA standards.

• Provide water service and assist with beverage service as directed.

• Deliver bread, condiments, silverware, and other service items promptly.

• Assist with food running when necessary and learn proper food presentation and table positioning.

• Clear and reset tables efficiently without making guests feel rushed.

• Replace silverware and glassware between courses as required.

• Maintain table cleanliness throughout the guest experience.

• Communicate immediately with the server regarding guest requests, allergies, missing items, or service concerns.

• Assist with polishing and maintaining glassware, silverware, and service equipment.

• Support opening and closing duties.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining room, service stations, and back-of-house service areas.

• Work closely with Servers, Captains, Food Runners, Bartenders, Sommeliers, Hosts, and Managers.

• Assist other sections when needed; teamwork takes priority over individual sections.

• Follow all food safety, sanitation, uniform, grooming, and workplace safety standards.

Service & Hospitality Expectations

Server Assistants at MIKA are expected to:

• Maintain professional posture and presence on the floor.

• Walk with purpose — never run.

• Stay aware of the entire dining room, not only the tables in their assigned section.

• Anticipate guest and server needs instead of waiting to be asked.

• Avoid unnecessary conversations or gathering at service stations.

• Maintain discretion around guests and VIPs.

• Use professional and respectful language at all times.

• Never point across the dining room or interrupt a guest unnecessarily.

• Treat every guest and colleague with warmth and respect.

• Ask for assistance whenever unsure rather than guessing.

• Understand that details matter: water levels, crumbs, napkins, silverware, glassware, table cleanliness, and guest body language should continuously be observed.

Knowledge & Development

Server Assistants are expected to continuously develop their knowledge of:

• MIKA's food menu and ingredients

• Allergies and dietary restrictions

• Basic wine, cocktail, beer, and spirits knowledge

• Table numbers and seat positions

• Proper food running

• Steps of service

• Glassware and silverware

• Restaurant terminology

• Fine-dining etiquette and service standards
