Founded in 1909 by Milton and Catherine Hershey, Milton Hershey School (MHS) is a tuition-free private home and school for 2,200 pre-K through 12th grade students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Since its' founding, the lives of almost 12,000 children have had lives transformed through high-quality career-focused education and a positive, nurturing home life. And the school is growing to serve more students.


MHS is seeking a skilled and experienced Structural Trades Technician II - Floor Installer to join our Facilities team. This full-time role focuses primarily on the installation, repair, and maintenance of various flooring systems across our campus, which includes both residential and commercial facilities. Key Responsibilities:



  • Perform professional-level floor installations and repairs, including but not limited to carpet, tile, vinyl, wood, and specialty flooring systems.

  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on flooring surfaces to ensure safety, compliance, and durability.

  • Support structural trade operations, including roofing, painting, masonry, carpentry, and general building maintenance as needed.

  • Interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings related to floor layouts and construction details.

  • Maintain compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements during all work.

  • Collaborate with other trades and departments to ensure timely project completion and minimal disruption to campus operations.


The selected candidate is required to demonstrate journeyman level knowledge by achieving a score of at least 70% on a professional examination and demonstrate journeyman level skill through successful completion of practical exercise. (this applies to both internal and external applicants).


Bargaining unit position with OPS-464. The hourly rate is $31.45 (plus any applicable shift differential). Work schedule: Monday - Friday full-time flex shift - Any combination of the shift times listed below on a weekly basis. A full-time schedule shall consist of forty (40) hours of scheduled work with a minimum of two (2) days off.



  • 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. (current need)

  • 3:30 p.m. - 12:00 a.m.

  • 11:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m.

  • 4-10 hours shifts

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Minimum 5 years of current experience as a commercial and residential flooring installer and general knowledge specific to facilities maintenance.

  • Or equal, 2 years of trade school and 3 years of current experience as a commercial and residential flooring installer.

  • Strong knowledge of industry tools, materials, and installation techniques.

  • Experience working in multiple structural trades (roofing, painting, carpentry, masonry, etc.).

  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.

  • Must be able to work independently, manage time efficiently, and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Computer skills with basic knowledge of Microsoft applications.

  • Valid PA Driver's License in good standing.

  • OSHA 10-Hour Training for Construction & General Industry.

  • Asbestos Awareness Training

  • Candidates should demonstrate a high degree of integrity, as all MHS staff are role models for MHS students.

  • Candidates should be willing to actively engage with students.
