Responsibilities

• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and vacuuming.
• Care for different types of floors (carpet, tile, VCT, wood) by hand and/or power equipment.
• Follow procedures for chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage.
• Mix water and detergents or acids to prepare cleaning solutions per specifications.
• Steam-clean or shampoo carpets.
• Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
• Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies manually or with hand trucks.
• Gather and empty trash.
• Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
• Clean furniture and fixtures.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors with cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
• Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
• Clean laboratory equipment using solvents, brushes, rags, and power cleaning equipment.
• Monitor building security and safety by locking doors after hours and checking electrical use.
• Notify managers about major repairs or additions to building systems.
• Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas with melting chemicals.
• Requisition supplies and equipment for cleaning and maintenance.
• Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding for events.
• Job assignments may vary with possible transfers.
