Responsibilities

• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and vacuuming.
• Care for different types of floors (including carpet, tile, VCT, wood) by hand and/or power equipment.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions.
• Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies manually or with hand trucks.
• Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using soapy water, sponges, and squeegees.
• Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
• Monitor building security and safety by locking doors after hours and checking electrical usage.
• Notify managers concerning major repairs or additions to building systems.
• Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas using snow melting chemicals.
• Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding for events.
• Job assignments can vary from facility to facility with possible transfers.
