Job summary

Southern Cleaning Services is seeking a dedicated cleaner to perform comprehensive facility cleaning, including floors, restrooms, windows, and furniture. The role involves using chemical cleaners, power equipment, and occasional event setup tasks in various facilities.

Candidates should be comfortable handling equipment, moving supplies, and maintaining a safe environment. The position is on-site and physical in nature, with routine duties across multiple rooms and surfaces.

Responsibilities

• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and vacuuming.
• Care for different types of floors (including carpet, tile, VCT, wood) by hand and/or use of power equipment.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
• Steam-clean or shampoo carpets.
• Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
• Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies manually or using hand trucks.
• Gather and empty trash.
• Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
• Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
• Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
• Clean laboratory equipment such as glassware and metal instruments using solvents, brushes, rags, and power cleaning equipment.
• Monitor building security and safety by locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure hazards are not created.
• Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
• Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas by spreading snow melting chemicals.
• Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as sporting events, banquets and meetings.
