Job summary

Harris County Flood Control District is seeking a Flood Resilience Planner to work with multiple departments, partners, and consultants to develop and implement the Flood Resilience Plan and internal resilience programs. The role emphasizes coordinating with the Infrastructure Resilience Team and CFRTF to ensure timely milestones and deliverables in Harris County.

The successful candidate will manage scope, schedule, and budgets, prepare governance documents, and support disaster recovery

Qualifications

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Planning, Public Administration, Public Policy, or a related field.
  • 1 year of relevant professional experience in infrastructure planning, floodplain management, urban planning, environmental planning, or water resources.
  • Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree with 3 years of relevant professional experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to advance Harris County’s flood resilience efforts.
  • Support the Resilience team in developing and integrating resilience programs and CFRTF priorities.
  • Assist in managing scope, schedule, budget, and deliverables for resilience projects.
  • Prepare schedules, agendas, meeting materials, reports, and action trackers.
  • Attend occasional evenings/weekends and support training and recertification activities.
