Metro Physical & Aquatic Therapy is hiring Physical Therapist Aides to join as floaters, providing coverage throughout Central and Eastern Long Island. Your clinic location will vary based on staffing needs and scheduling demands—you’ll support patient care across all clinics in the region.

Qualifications

• Able to cover 15-20 minutes from home office; you are responsible for transportation to and from work including coverage shifts.
• Knowledge of Anatomy & Kinesiology.
• Knowledge of the equipment used in therapy work.
• Knowledge of the behavior and needs of patients.
• Knowledge of proper strengthening techniques.
• Knowledge of the use of restraints and aggressive behavior management practices.
• Ability to successfully complete in-service training.
• Ability to observe, evaluate, and record conditions, reactions, and changes in patients' physical condition.
• Ability to maintain appropriate attitude and conduct necessary to the welfare of patients.
• Ability to create and maintain records and write brief reports.
• Ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a scribe for recording and editing therapeutic exercises under the supervision of a Doctor of Physical Therapy and/or Occupational Therapy.
• Help treat patients by preparing heat and ice packs; paraffin dips; assisting patients to the pool; guiding patients to exercise equipment; monitoring motion; tracking patient exertion; guiding prescribed exercises and strengthening techniques.
• Ensure operation of treatment equipment by completing preventive maintenance; following instructions; troubleshooting; calling for repairs.
• Educate patients by demonstrating proper use of equipment and exercise routines.
• Prepare the treatment room for patients and welcome/assist them into sessions.
• Provide information to patients by answering questions and requests; reassure them.
• Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
• Provide front desk coverage as needed; assist with scheduling.
