Job summary

Metro Physical & Aquatic Therapy is seeking Physical Therapist Aides to join as floaters, covering Central and Eastern Long Island clinics. You’ll assist with therapy sessions, prepare materials, and support front-desk tasks as needed.

Positions available per diem, part-time, and full-time with flexible scheduling. The role requires knowledge of anatomy, therapy equipment, and patient care, with opportunities to work across multiple locations and grow within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Anatomy & Kinesiology.
  • Knowledge of the equipment used in therapy work.
  • Knowledge of the behavior and needs of patients.
  • Knowledge of proper strengthening techniques.
  • Knowledge of the use of restraints and aggressive behavior management practices.
  • Ability to observe, evaluate, and record conditions, reactions, and changes in patients' physical condition.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to create and maintain records and write brief reports.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate attitude and conduct necessary to the welfare of patients.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a scribe for recording and editing therapeutic exercises under supervision.
  • Prepare heat and ice packs; paraffin dips; assist patients to the pool; guide patients to exercise equipment; monitor motion; guide prescribed exercises.
  • Ensure operation of treatment equipment by preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Educate patients by demonstrating proper use of equipment and exercise routines.
  • Prepare the treatment room for patients and assist with sessions.
  • Provide information to patients by answering questions and requests; address concerns.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and safe, clean working environment.
  • Provide front desk coverage and assist with scheduling.
  • Assist or find appropriate assistance to accommodate disabled individuals as needed.
