Floating Front End Manager

Job Description

This role is responsible for leading the Front End department under direction from the Store Manager, ensuring efficient operations, accurate cash handling, and excellent customer service.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise, train, evaluate, audit and discipline Front End associates.
  • Maintain and control supply and payroll expenses.
  • Plan and schedule work to manage traffic flow at registers.
  • Manage secret shopper scores and paperwork thoroughness for 11‑1 & 4‑6 schedules.
  • Handle all money operations: cash drawers, pick‑ups, loans, deposits, food‑stamp, checks, coupons and gift card transactions.
  • Perform all accounting functions: billing, transfers, expense charging, payments, Kennie's Cards, monthly office inventory, and communicate with Corporate Accounting Office on matters and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly and safe office area.
  • Execute correct store opening and closing procedures and secure store assets.
  • Address customer inquiries and complaints, and train associates on proper handling.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance of all equipment in the department.
  • Adhere to all safety standards and regulations.
  • Coordinate with other departments during inter‑department or store‑wide promotions.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by store management.
  • Maintain punctuality and attendance in accordance with company policy.
  • Follow company uniform and name‑badge policies.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) with two to four years of related experience or training.
  • Ability to read and interpret written instructions, operating and maintenance manuals, and safety rules.
  • Effective communication skills, including clear written reports and oral communication with customers and employees.
  • Proficient in mathematics: ability to calculate discounts, interests, percentages.
  • Strong reasoning ability: solve practical problems, handle variable situations, interpret written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions.
  • Understanding of payroll, cash handling, and front‑end management practices.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervise 20‑30 employees in the Front End Department.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
  • Assist with interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
