Job summary

Children’s Mercy Kansas City seeks a registered nurse to provide comprehensive, age-appropriate care on critical care and medical/surgical units. You will utilize the nursing process, support families, and align with our values of kindness, curiosity, inclusion, team, and integrity.

The role requires ADN with potential BSN path for newer hires; KS/MO licensure or compact license on hire; and adherence to vaccination requirements.

Qualifications

ADN required; grandfathering policy for pre-2013 hires.
BSN preferred for hires after Sept 1, 2013; degree must be completed within 5 years.
RN licensure in KS or MO; multistate license or compact required on hire.
RN licensure in MO or KS; multistate license or compact required on hire.
Life Support Certifications required upon hire.
Specialty certification relevant to unit preferred.

Responsibilities

Utilizes the nursing process to develop and implement an age-appropriate plan of care for stable and critically ill patients and families.
Meets the educational and informational needs of patients and families, using teaching/learning principles.
Promotes safe, efficient, family-centered care for stable and critically ill patients.
Delegates nursing care based on staff qualifications and patient care requirements.
Participates in performance improvement activities and attends education programs, unit meetings, and committees.
