Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Technician in Chicago to assist the Registered Nurse in direct and indirect patient care. The role requires CNA certification or current nursing student status, CPR/BLS, and compliance with safety training.

Candidates will perform vital signs, specimen collection, infant care, and patient transport while maintaining a safe environment and collaborating with the care team.

Qualifications

• CNA certification or current enrollment in nursing school with basic clinical rotations.
• CPR recognition by the American Heart Association (BLS for Healthcare Providers).
• Must meet annual Health and Safety Training requirements (minimum 90%).
• Experience with Capillary Blood Glucose Monitoring and infant newborn care is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct patient care under RN supervision (admission, transfer, discharge).
• Record vitals, weight, temperature, and intake/output.
• Perform phlebotomy and collect specimens as directed.
• Assist newborn care, feeding, and infant safety procedures.
• Transport patients and arrange equipment for procedures.
• Maintain safe, clean environment and restock supplies.
