Job summary

Sturdy Memorial Hospital is seeking a CNA/Unit Coordinator to support the patient care team. You will perform ADLs, monitor vitals, glucometry, EKGs, and I/O while assisting with transport and supply management.

Role requires English proficiency, BLS and CNA certification, and orientation completion. You’ll contribute to a positive patient experience and efficient unit operation within a team-based care model.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, typing, and basic computer skills.
• Unit Secretary experience preferred and orientation completed.
• BLS competent and CNA certification required.

Responsibilities

• Perform direct patient care tasks (ADLs, vital signs, glucometry, EKGs, weights, I/O).
• Handle indirect care (transport, restocking, supplies) and unit coordination duties.
• Respond promptly to patient and family needs; support Nursing Department operations.
• Proficient in English with strong interpersonal and team collaboration.

Job description

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 24

Performing under the direction of the RN/LPN and as a member of the unit-based patient care team, the Certified Nursing Assistant/Unit Coordinator (CNA/UC) performs duties of direct and indirect patient care. The direct patient care tasks include but are not limited to activities of daily living, vital signs, glucometry, EKG’s, weights and Intake/Output data collection. Indirect patient care activities include, but are not limited to, transport, restocking and/or obtaining patient care supplies. In addition, the CNA /UC is responsible for responding in a timely manner to the needs of patients and family members and taking a proactive role in the efficient operation of the unit. They function within policies, procedures and guidelines of Sturdy Memorial Hospital in accordance with Joint Commission, CDC and OSHA standards. In addition, the CNA/UC will perform clerical, receptionist and unit coordinating duties on individual patient care units.

Education/Training

• High School Graduate or equivalent
• Previous knowledge of medical terminology, typing, computer skills and Unit Secretary experience preferred
• Successful completion of orientation

Licenses/Certification

• BLS competent
• Certification as a nursing assistant

Required Qualifications And Skills

• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills needed to assist in providing patient care, good organizational skills, personal maturity, accuracy and flexibility.
• Previous knowledge of medical terminology, typing, computer skills and Unit Secretary experience preferred
• Successful completion of orientation
• Proficient in English
• Possess excellent interpersonal skills and adaptability, creating a favorable image in relationship to the Nursing Department and the hospital as a whole
• Ability to perform simple math calculations
• Develop and maintain positive relationships across all areas of responsibility
• Demonstrate commitment to customer relations and all basic concepts of continuous quality improvement and preventing error from reaching the patient
• Provides timely, positive responses to the needs of all customers including patients, families, co-workers and physicians

Salary Range: $17.64-$26.58

A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and education.
