Overview

Position: Physical Therapist at Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center - Inpatient Rehabilitation. Employment type: Full-time (40 hours per week). Schedule: Monday through Friday normal business hours, with weekend and holiday requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Adhere to hospital and departmental policies and procedures; promote a cooperative work environment through effective communication, interpersonal skills, and teamwork.
  • Provide patient care assessment and treatment that are comprehensive, functional, and aligned with the Standard of Practice; establish realistic goals and a quest for quality patient outcomes.
  • Supervise support staff assisting with patient care by providing direction and feedback.
  • Maintain accurate documentation: patient evaluations, progress notes, discharge notes, patient/family education, charges, departmental statistics, and ICD-10 codes as appropriate.
  • Ensure documentation is legible and timely; maintain patient records in an organized manner.
  • Meet department financial and productivity standards; understand budgeted expectations and adjust schedules to meet patient and department needs.
  • Participate in process management to improve quality and efficiency; identify opportunities and communicate barriers; research and apply evidence-based practices.
  • Promote professional development of other health care workers; provide in-service training and share clinical expertise; stay informed about changes in the profession locally, state, and nationally.
  • Communicate professionally and timely with patients, physicians, staff, and external customers; respond to questions and ensure patient and family understanding.
  • Provide age/developmentally appropriate care; maintain competence in age-specific patient care and update knowledge as growth and aging processes evolve.
Qualifications
  • Education/Experience: B.S., M.S., or D.P.T degree from an accredited physical therapy school. Previous hospital experience preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current licensure in the applicable state and CPR certification in Basic Life Support, Level C.

  • Professional communication with physicians, nurses, and other health care providers; ability to communicate with patients of all ages and significant others.

Work Environment
  • Subject to stress conditions; moderate noise environment; clean, well-lit setting with occasional high moisture conditions.
  • Potential exposure to bloodborne and airborne pathogens; may require home visits; exposure to bodily fluids and various patient conditions.
  • May be exposed to electro-mechanical hazards and cleaning chemicals; PPE required as appropriate.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand, walk, sit, bend, reach, and dexterity; lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs (as applicable).
Compensation and Benefits
  • Pay Range: $37.50 - $56.25 per hour.
  • Base compensation within the listed pay range based on qualifications, skills, experience, and training.
  • Premium pay such as shift work and on-call; incentive pay for select positions; potential annual increases based on performance.
