Join to apply for the 2027 Physical Therapist Residency role at Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center - Rehabilitation: Residency.

Department: Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center - Rehabilitation: Residency. Status: Full time. Benefits Eligible: Yes. Hours Per Week: 40. Pay Range: $32.45 - $48.70.

Major Responsibilities
  • Evaluates patients, selects and administers assessment techniques, synthesizes information to establish appropriate patient care plans including necessary modalities, procedures, exercise programs, therapeutic groups, and patient education as warranted by the patient’s diagnosis, condition, age, and discharge needs.
  • Gathers and interprets data from the medical record, physician reports, patient, and/or family as evidenced by documentation.
  • Documents evaluations, tests, progress notes, daily treatment notes, attendance records, patient/family education, outcomes, discharge notes, and charges as needed.
  • Communicates patient evaluation and progress to physicians, referral sources, and other clinical staff; coordinates patient schedules, treatment programs, and discharge planning.
  • Provides and documents patient and family education regarding deficits, progress toward goals, and therapeutic techniques, with individualized home program instructions including equipment use.
  • Directs and supervises activities of Physical Therapist Assistant, Physical Therapy Technician, students, and volunteers; assists with orienting new and rotating staff.
Minimum Job Requirements

Education

Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited school or educational requirements commensurate with the date of graduation. Maintains continuing education requirements as mandated by applicable state professional standards.

Certification / Registration / License

Licensed Physical Therapist in the state where you work. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (obtained within 90 days unless department leader has determined it is not required) by American Heart Association (AHA).

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Ability to operate ultrasound equipment with specialized Cardiology software and a desktop computer.
  • Advanced knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, and pathology as related to cardiac circulation.
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions

Sitting, standing, and walking are required throughout the day. Duties may involve climbing stairs, kneeling, twisting, bending; occasionally crouching, crawling, and reaching overhead. Lifting up to 20 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally; able to transfer patients up to 100 pounds rarely. PPE may be required for exposure to hazards. Work is in a fast-paced clinical environment; primarily indoors with occasional outdoor work.
