Job summary

Atrium Health Floyd in Cedartown, GA, is seeking a licensed Physical Therapy Assistant to implement therapy programs under the direction of a PT. You will train patients in exercises, ambulation and activities of daily living, and collect outcome measures.

The role requires completing a two-year PTA program, an active license, and CPR every two years. Preference is given to candidates with at least one year of PTA experience and the ability to work with patients across the lifespan.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a two-year college program for Physical Therapy Assistants approved by APTA.
  • Current license to practice as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the applicable state.
  • CPR certification every two years.
  • Preferred: One year of previous experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
  • Good physical strength and condition.
  • Ability to work with infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult and older adult patients.
  • Research experience.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out physical therapy programs as directed by the physical therapist.
  • Train patients in exercises, ambulation and activities of daily living.
  • Collect clinical assessment scores, radiographic scores and health-related quality of life information.
  • Perform a wide range of tests and evaluations in clinical or research settings—including developmental levels, gross/fine motor skills, neurological-reflex testing, equilibrium, coordination, protective responses, muscle strength, tone, joint range of motion, daily living skills, perceptual motor skills and defects.
  • Screen for orthopedic and physical defects, genetic anomalies, or idiopathic conditions.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment.
  • Assist with research protocols, treatment development and quality control of data.
  • Develop and write educational materials.
  • Participate in staff meetings, forums, committees, and in-service training activities.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described.

  • Schedule: Monday – Friday, normal business hours with occasional weekend and holiday requirements
  • Pay Range: $25.30 – $37.95 per hour

Work Environment

Exposure to hazardous substances, infectious diseases, body fluids; frequent interruptions; contact with patients, family members, visitors, coworkers and medical staff under a wide variety of circumstances.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to stand, walk, sit, bend, reach with arms, use fingers and hand dexterity, talk, hear and see. Ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 20 lbs. for routine tasks, 50 lbs. for moderate tasks and 100 lbs. for heavy tasks.
