Job summary

Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center in Rome, GA is seeking a full-time Physical Therapist to join the inpatient rehabilitation team. You will provide comprehensive patient care, perform assessments, and develop treatment plans to improve function and well-being.

This role requires current state licensure and CPR/BLS certification, with a 40-hour work week and occasional weekend/holiday work. A sign-on bonus is eligible for this position.

Qualifications

• B.S., M.S., or D.P.T degree from an accredited physical therapy program.
• Previous hospital experience preferred.
• Current state licensure and CPR/BLS certification must be current.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care assessments and treatment aligned with standards of practice.

Pay Range

$40.30 - $60.45

Education / Experience

B.S., M.S., or D.P.T degree from accredited physical therapy school. Previous hospital experience preferred.

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration

Current licensure in the applicable state and CPR certification in Basic Life Support, Level C.

Essential Functions

• Adheres to general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships, and team building; follows hospital and departmental policies and procedures; contributes to overall service quality and stays informed about policy changes.
• Provides patient care assessment and treatment, ensuring evaluations and treatments are comprehensive, functional, and in line with the Standard of Practice; interprets results, establishes realistic treatment plans, and encourages patients and significant others in goal setting.
• Recognizes and responds to changes in the patient’s physiologic state, recommends next-level care, ensures quality outcomes, and supervises support staff with direction and feedback.
• Maintains accurate documentation: writes patient evaluations, progress notes, discharge notes, and records patient/family education, charges, departmental statistics, and ICD‑10 codes per policy; keeps records legible and systematically ordered.
• Meets department financial and productivity standards; understands budget expectations; meets productivity standards; and adjusts individual schedules to serve patient and departmental needs.
• Participates in process management to enhance quality and efficiency, identifies opportunities, communicates barriers, researches evidence-based practices for improvement.
• Promotes professional development by representing on committees, conducting in‑service training, staying current with local, state, and national professional developments, and sharing clinical expertise with peers and students.
• Communicates professionally and timely with patients, physicians, staff, and external customers, responds to staff inquiries, fosters open communication, shares seminar insights, informs supervisors of issues, and ensures patient and family understanding.
• Provides patient care following age/developmental guidelines, demonstrates age/developmental knowledge and skills, and updates competence on growth, development, and aging.

Work Environment

Subject to stress conditions. Moderate noise environment. Clean, well‑lit comfortable climate; occasional high moisture. Frequent exposure to bloodborne and airborne pathogens, infectious and contagious diseases. Contact with patients under various circumstances. May make home visits. Exposure to unpleasant patient elements and body fluids. Subject to electro‑mechanical hazards. Exposure to cleaning chemicals. Occasionally handles emergency or crisis situations. Requires personal protective equipment: eye protection, face protection, gown, mask, lab coat, sterile and non‑sterile gloves, shoe covers.

Summary

Provides comprehensive therapeutic patient care to ensure positive patient outcomes. Educates the patient, significant others, and other health care providers to assure continuity of the patient care plan. Interacts with other departments and members of the medical team in developing and implementing interdisciplinary patient care plans to ensure comprehensive medical care. Supervises physical therapy and physical therapy assistant students to develop their clinical skills and ensure the delivery of quality patient care.
