Job summary

Software Placement Group (SPG) is seeking a float Phlebotomist for a 3-month contract serving multiple sites in the Winston-Salem, NC area. The role requires travel between locations, with mileage reimbursed and on-site shifts from Monday to Friday (5am-6pm).

Strong venipuncture skills and reliable transportation are essential. This fast-paced clinical environment offers benefits and the potential for permanent placement.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment (as required in some states).
• Minimum 6 months' venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Clean driving record and reliable transportation.
• Schedule of M-F 5am-6pm, with shifts of 8 hours.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge samples as required.
• Record maintenance data and perform decontamination procedures.
• Update patient information accurately.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes to patients clearly.
• Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand and follow physicians' orders.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens per test order.
• Verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for 100% accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport, maintaining required temperature and proper containers.
• Follow protocol-specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport.
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone calls and communicate laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
• Travel between multiple locations in the area as a float phlebotomist (mileage expense paid).
