Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed.
• Minimum of 5 work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 2 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explains the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
• Demonstrates technique using straight and butterfly needles.
• Understands physicians' orders and follows them.
• Matches lab requisition forms to specimen tubes and labels accurately.
• Packages specimens for transport and ensures proper storage temperatures.
• Complies with OSHA and DEP regulations and attends annual trainings.
• Answers telephone inquiries and reports lab results as needed.
