SPG (Software Placement Group) is seeking a contract Phlebotomist in Germantown, MD to support multiple locations within Montgomery County. The role is 3 months with potential for permanent placement and requires 5 years venipuncture experience, pediatric/geriatric exposure, and travel between sites.

The position is on-site, full-time, with overtime on Saturdays as scheduled and mileage reimbursement provided where applicable.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
• Minimum of 5 work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 2 years of experience.
• Pediatric and geriatric experience required.
• Clean driving record and reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge samples, and record maintenance data.
• Collect and store specimens per established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture and specimen collection processes to patients.
• Demonstrate proper technique using straight and butterfly needles.
• Follow physicians' orders.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.
• Verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for 100% accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport, maintaining proper temperature and labeling to preserve specimen integrity.
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department training sessions.
• Answer telephone calls and communicate laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
• Travel between multiple locations within the Montgomery County area as a float phlebotomist.
• Work the schedule of Mon – Fri. 8am –5pm, Every other Saturday. 8am – 12pm

Overview

A healthcare services provider is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join its team on a contract basis for a projected duration of 3 months, with potential for permanent placement. This float position supports multiple locations throughout the Maryland/Montgomery County area and plays a key role in ensuring accurate, safe, and efficient specimen collection for patients across all age groups.

What you'll do

• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures
• Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes (e.g., urine or fecal) to patients
• Demonstrate proper technique using straight and/or butterfly needles
