Job summary

Washington Radiology is seeking a Mammography Technologist to perform imaging procedures and support the operation of the office. The role requires ARRT Radiography certification and MQSA qualifications with ongoing education.

This PRN position offers 16 hours per week in the DMV Metro area, focusing on high-quality imaging and patient care. The technologist will ensure precise positioning and contribute to excellent patient experiences.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a formal radiologic technology training program.
  • ARRT certification in Radiography with MQSA documentation or MQSA-qualified/registry-eligible.
  • Current continuing education as required by MQSA and ARRT.
  • High School Diploma; Associates degree preferred.
  • Must possess non-restricted state licensure.
  • Knowledge of RIS/PACS software is preferred.
  • Two years of mammography experience preferred.
  • Experience with ultrasound core and stereotactic biopsies preferred.
  • Prior quality control experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend medical terminology.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Performs imaging procedures to assist in diagnosis and supports office operations.
  • Operates x-ray equipment and performs mammography-related procedures with high accuracy.
  • Maintains accurate positioning and exposure technique; contributes to patient experience.
  • Communicates procedures to patients and educates about the importance of regular mammography.
  • Reads and follows detailed written or oral instructions; maintains patient-first focus.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Hours: PRN/ As Needed (16 hrs/wk)

Hourly Rate: $45-$55, commensurate with experience

Performs imaging procedures to assist in the diagnosis of disease and injuries and supports the general operation of the office.

The Mammography Technologist operates x-ray equipment and performs a variety of mammography-related diagnostic procedures. Individual must maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and exposure technique. This position is critical to Washington Radiology; by providing outstanding care and efficient results, the technologist impacts the profitability of the organization as well as the patient experience.

A Day In The Life Of a Mammography Technologist
  • Understands, promotes and demonstrates the Solis Way
  • Consistently practices excellent mammography positioning and exposure technique;
  • Ability to effectively communicate to patients the procedures and educate women about the role of regular mammography in preventative breast health;
  • Ability to effectively communicate on an individual and small group basis to doctors, patients, and other employees;
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and sometimes complicated, written or oral instructions;
  • Must maintain patient-first focus at all times and exhibit outstanding customer service skills;
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Here Is What You Will Need
  • Completion of a formal radiologic technology training program and hold current certification by ARRT in Radiography;
  • ARRT advanced level certification in mammography with documentation of clinical experience, or MQSA qualified and (M) registry eligible;
  • Current on all required continuing education and continuing experience as required by MQSA and ARRT;
  • High School Diploma; Associates degree preferred;
  • Must possess non-restricted licensure in state work location;
  • Knowledge of database software, RIS/PACS software is preferred;
  • Two years of experience in mammography is preferred;
  • Experience with diagnostic procedures such as ultrasound core and stereotactic biopsies is preferred;
  • Prior quality control experience preferred;
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend medical terminology;
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
