Job summary

Shield AI, a defense-tech company, seeks an early-career System Test Engineer I to join the team. You will help plan, execute, and document system-level tests for Hivemind Mission Autonomy across unmanned aircraft systems, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams on software-hardware integration and flight-test activities.

You will contribute to test planning, data collection, issue investigations, and reporting while supporting integration events with partners and customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline or equivalent practical experience.
• Foundational experience with engineering test, integration, troubleshooting, or verification.
• Familiarity with systems-engineering concepts: requirements, verification, validation, and documentation.
• Interest in autonomous systems, unmanned aircraft, simulation, and software-hardware integration.
• Familiarity with Linux/Windows, command-line tools, networking basics, and programming languages such as Python, Bash, or C++.
• Ability to follow detailed procedures, maintain records, and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical skills and clear written/verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Support test planning and execution for integrating Hivemind Mission Autonomy onto unmanned platforms.
• Assist with defining objectives, acceptance criteria, verification methods, and schedules.
• Develop and maintain system-level test procedures, test cases, and configurations.
• Set up and troubleshoot SIL/HIL, simulation, laboratory, and automated test environments.
• Verify test hardware, software, networks, ground-control equipment, sensors, and computing systems.
• Collect test data, telemetry, logs, and other evidence to evaluate system behavior.
• Analyze results, investigate deviations, document defects, and support root-cause investigations.
• Contribute to performance metrics, reports, dashboards, and readiness materials.
• Maintain test infrastructure, automation, and repeatable configurations.
• Participate in test-readiness reviews, planning meetings, and post-test debriefs.
• Adhere to safety, security, configuration-management, and procedures during activities.
