Job summary

Northrop Grumman seeks a Manager Test Pilot Engineering 2 to lead the Flight Test team on a program at Edwards AFB, CA. The role requires directing test pilots, flight test engineers, and support staff to execute ground and flight tests in accordance with processes and safety reviews.

This position emphasizes leadership in test planning, hazard analyses, risk mitigations, and liaison with management, customers, and program offices.

Qualifications

• Requires 9+ years engineering experience with a BS in science/engineering/math (7+ years with MS).
• Minimum 10 years combined aviation flight test experience.
• Active DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain and maintain as required by the program.
• Ability to obtain Program Access (PAR) in a reasonable time.
• Experience with Earned Value Management practices.
• Prior test pilot/experimental/developmental test or military pilot experience.
• Proven leadership in flight or ground test activities including planning, hazard analysis, and risk mitigation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for customer and internal leadership engagements.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of test pilot engineering for Strike.
• Plan, brief, execute, and debrief flight and ground test events per approved tests and safety processes.
• Ensure rigorous documentation of test results and reports; track and resolve discrepancies.
• Mentor and develop test pilots and flight test engineers; enforce standards for test discipline and safety.
• Interface with customer test organizations and range authorities on objectives and safety constraints.
• Support proposals by contributing test pilot inputs to cost, schedule, and risk assessments.
