Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Roy, UT, is seeking a seasoned Mechanical Engineer to lead a design team from concept to final design for a space-based vehicle. You will oversee mechanical design and PDP generation to procure, manufacture, and assemble the vehicle.

In this fast-paced role, coordinate with electrical and integration teams, develop PDPs/ADPs, review MBOMs and data sheets, and perform trade studies for SWaP and mass properties. Strong leadership, communication, and GD&T knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
• Active Secret clearance at time of application.
• Ability to obtain SAP approval within a reasonable period.
• 5+ years CAD modeling experience (Siemens NX preferred).
• Familiar with ISO, ASME, Mil Spec, NAS, etc.
• 2+ years leading Mechanical Engineering teams.
• Mechanical design experience for hypersonic/flight systems/missiles.
• Experience with packaging, sizing, and weight tradeoffs.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small team of design engineers from conceptual to final design for a space-based vehicle.
• Attend internal program, customer and supplier technical exchange meetings.
• Support program milestone reviews with progress status updates.
• Collaborate across electrical and integration teams for system packaging.
• Develop PDPs/ADPs and take them through review and release.
• Review MBOMs, data sheets, ICDs, specifications and analyses.
• Conduct trade studies for SWaP and mass properties.
