Job summary

Redwire Defense Tech, formerly Edge Autonomy, seeks an experienced Flight Systems & Embedded Software Lead to oversee avionics development, integration, and delivery. You will guide cross-functional teams through requirements, design, test, and deployment, while driving best practices in embedded software and safety-critical systems.

The role requires deep technical leadership in air vehicle domains, and collaboration with IPT leads to ensure on-time, on-budget execution and cross-team alignment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Proven 10+ years in aerospace/defense or UAS with air vehicle systems focus.
• Proven leadership of cross-functional teams delivering complex projects.
• Experience managing air vehicle development from concept through testing and deployment.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of development projects and drive them through development, integration, and completion.
• Lead cross-functional teams across power systems, propulsion, avionics, and embedded software.
• Develop and manage project plans, schedules, resources, and risk assessments for on-time execution.
• Interface with systems engineers, program managers, and test teams to align goals.
• Conduct design reviews and integration planning to ensure coordination across teams.
• Ensure compliance with performance, reliability, and safety standards.
• Provide technical leadership to resolve design and manufacturing challenges.
• Support flight testing and validation efforts.
