Job summary

Hopper is seeking engineers to own major flight product features in a high-throughput microservices environment. You will contribute across the entire flight booking funnel, from search to booking, and work with external airline/GDS integrations.

You will design and implement scalable services, participate in system design discussions, mentor junior engineers, and help ensure low-latency, reliable performance under heavy load.

Qualifications

• Experience owning technical implementations from concept to production
• Strong background in designing scalable microservices
• Proficiency in JVM languages (Scala/Java/Kotlin)
• Experience with distributed systems, gRPC, Pub/Sub, REST
• Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and review code

Responsibilities

• Write clean, performant code for flight product features and review others' PRs
• Troubleshoot production issues in a distributed system and collaborate with seniors
• Plan requirements with Product Managers and translate into technical tasks
• Improve system design for scalability, performance and monitoring (SLOs/SLAs)
